Dopo due anni di attività (con in mezzo il COVID e la guerra in Ucraina che di certo non hanno semplificato le cose) si è praticamente concluso il 29 e 30 novembre scorsi il progetto Erasmus+ “ORNAT2000” che ha visto impegnati cinque partner europei nel valorizzare l’importanza dell’ambiente in Europa e nel far conoscere le aree “Natura 2000” attraverso uno sport prettamente ambientale come è l’orienteering, tenendo d’occhio anche le necessità di chi ha una qualche disabilità e mettendo quindi l’accento sulla disciplina del Trail-O, che potremmo definire “l’orienteering per tutti”.
Meeting finale quindi ospitato a Sofia a fine novembre 2022 da “Champions factory”, la ONG partner bulgara del progetto, assieme all’ASD Orienteering Crea Rossa di Roncegno Terme per l’Italia, il centro giovanile di Marjiampole per la Lituania e la Federazione di orienteering della contea di Vas per l’Ungheria. Coordinatore del progetto è la Comunità Valsugana e Tesino.
L’appuntamento finale di Sofia ha visto i partner impegnati a “tirare le fila” di quanto fatto, definendo i dettagli delle attività conclusive che consentiranno di predisporre il report finale da consegnare alla Commissione europea.
La due giorni bulgara ha inoltre visto l’interessante visita alla National Sport Academy “Vassil Levski” di Sofia, la struttura nata 80 anni fa che offre corsi di laurea e master a tema sportivo.
Nei suoi due anni di attività Il progetto ORNAT2000 ha portato alla raccolta di una trentina di buone pratiche di validi progetti realizzati in diverse regioni europee imperniati sul collegamento di almeno due fra i temi dello sport, dell’ambiente e dell’inclusione sociale.
In ciascuna delle regioni partner sono stati organizzati dei corsi di formazione rivolti a tecnici di orienteering e a operatori del sociale per aiutare a facilitare l’avvicinamento di persone con disabilità a questa disciplina sportiva nella natura.
Ogni partner ha inoltre organizzato almeno un “evento locale” di introduzione al Trail-O e ha realizzato delle mappe per la pratica dell’orienteering e del Trail-O in aree poste nelle immediate vicinanze (in alcuni casi all’interno) di riserve facenti parte della rete europea “Natura 2000”.
Le gare internazionali di corsa orientamento e di Trail-O organizzate in Trentino ad inizio ottobre 2022 sono state il momento principale dell’evento finale del progetto.
Un video finale, oltre a raccogliere i risultati del progetto, potrà servire da strumento per aiutare a far avvicinare al Trail-O in particolare le persone con disabilità.
Final meeting in Sofia concludes ORNAT2000 project
After two years of activities (with COVID and the war in Ukraine in between, which certainly did not make things any easier), the Erasmus+ project “ORNAT2000”, which involved five European partners in enhancing the importance of the environment in Europe and raising awareness of “Natura 2000” areas through a purely environmental sport such as orienteering, was practically concluded on November 29 and 30, while also keeping an eye on the needs of those with some kind of disability and thus putting emphasis on the discipline of Trail-O, which we could call “orienteering for all.”
Final meeting then hosted in Sofia at the end of November 2022 by “Champions factory,” the Bulgarian NGO partner of the project, together with ASD Orienteering Crea Rossa of Roncegno Terme for Italy, the Marjiampole youth center for Lithuania, and the Vas County Orienteering Federation for Hungary. Coordinator of the project is the Valsugana and Tesino Community.
The final meeting in Sofia saw the partners engaged in “pulling the strings” of what had been done, defining the details of the concluding activities that will make it possible to prepare the final report to be delivered to the European Commission.
The Bulgarian two-day event also included an interesting visit to the National Sport Academy “Vassil Levski” in Sofia, the 80-year-old facility that offers bachelor’s and master’s degree programs with a sports theme.
In its two years of activity The ORNAT2000 project has resulted in the collection of some 30 best practices of good projects implemented in different European regions focused on linking at least two of the themes of sports, environment and social inclusion.
Training courses aimed at orienteering technicians and social workers were organized in each of the partner regions to help facilitate the approach of people with disabilities to this sporting discipline in nature.
Each partner also organized at least one “local event” introducing Trail-O and made maps for practicing orienteering and Trail-O in areas located in close proximity to (in some cases within) reserves that are part of the European “Natura 2000” network.
The international orienteering and Trail-O races held in Trentino in early October 2022 were the highlight of the project’s final event.
A final video, in addition to collecting the results of the project, may serve as a tool to help bring people with disabilities in particular closer to Trail-O.
