ORNAT 2000 (2021-22)

BOOSTING ORIENTEERING SPORT AS KEY FOR
INCREASING AWARENESS OF EUROPEAN NATURAL HERITAGE (NATURA 2000)
AND PROMOTING SOCIAL INCLUSION

ORNAT2000 is an Erasmus+ “Small Collaborative Partnership” project in the field of sport.
The 24 months project foresees:

Phase A – preparatory activities: collecting a set of best practices, case studies and previous/ongoing projects at national and european level in two fields:
A.1: in the specific field of sports activities as a medium for increasing health status and social inclusion of disadvantage people and elderly, with a focus on orienteering
A.2: in the field of collaboration between sports and natural parks/areas as key to increasing awareness of the value of biodiversity and the key role of Natura 2000 for nature conservation and spots for more healthy people.

Phase B – education activities: courses for team’s technicians and volunteers operating in
B.1: four biodiversity courses (one in each partner country) dedicated to knowing the value and threats of local biodiversity.
B.2 four “know your target” courses (one in each country) dedicated to boost knowledge of technicians about people with disabilities (physical and psychological needs) and about needs for mapping places for trailo events.

Phase C – ORNAT2000 Trail-O events:
C.1 local ORNAT2000 Trail-O festival: four Trail-O demonstration events (one in each partner country) to spread and share values of the ornat2000 project.
C.2 EU ORNAT2000 summit: a final Trail-O event and a conference, hosted in Italy and with the participation of athletes’ delegations coming from each country partner.

Horizontal activites:
-4 transnational meetings (in Bulgaria, Hungary, Italy and Lithuania)
-production of four Trail-O maps in Nature 2000 areas (one for each partner region)
-development of “Sport4nature&health” toolkit
